This Land Yoga

I spent the afternoon at This Land Yoga making portraits and snagging a few studio shots, and it felt a little like coming home. I did my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training here and have practiced at this studio for years, so I know the light, the corners, the energy—the way the room softens people’s edges and makes them breathe a little deeper. That’s the sweet spot for portraits.

I photographed owner Shannon along with teachers Tailyn, Deanna, Audrey, and Victoria. Each one brings a distinct presence: steady, warm, grounded, quietly powerful. We kept the setups simple—soft natural poses, a few movement frames to catch breath and flow, then tighter headshots for the website, class promos, and socials. The goal wasn’t to force a look, but to let each teacher feel like themselves in the space they lead.

If you haven’t visited lately, the studio recently expanded to include a dedicated teaching and yoga space, plus a massage & reiki room—such a thoughtful evolution of what This Land already is. The new layout gives us more room to play with composition and negative space, and the wellness room adds another layer of calm that shows up in the images.

What I love most about photographing at This Land is how little you have to “do.” The studio does the heavy lifting—people settle, shoulders drop, and the portraits reflect that calm, capable, approachable energy. Huge thanks to Shannon for opening the doors and trusting me to capture her team.

If your studio or small business needs portraits that look like you—clear, clean, and real—I’d love to shoot in your space or mine.
